    Warm Baked Pears Dessert

Undoubtedly, the combination of warm fruit and ice cream is very popular! An indulgence especially loved during winter!

So, if you count among those people who do value such a winter dessert, let me introduce you to my newest creation: Caramelized Pears with Vanilla Ice Cream!

It’s super easy to prepare and easy to follow, yet delicious.

Arrange peeled pears on a baking dish, sprinkle with cinnamon, vanilla extract, and maple syrup, and let them caramelize in the preheated oven. The pears become sweet, soft, and aromatic, and the maple syrup slightly starts to caramelize in the oven.

Those warm baked pears are the perfect base for a scoop of best vanilla ice cream. It does not only harmonize in taste, yet the ice cream scoop fits perfectly in the hollow of the pears! You can also serve the ice cream next to the pears, of course (as I did).

Healthyish Dessert To Prepare in Advance

Since this recipe is made with pears and only a small amount of maple syrup (½ tbsp per person), I consider it a rather healthy-ish dessert. Just don’t overdo it with the ice cream, and you are fine. One scoop per pear and thus per person is sufficient!

Also, this dessert is very light and can be served after the main dish with friends or family.

What I especially love about this recipe is that it can be prepared in advance.

Bake the pears one or two days in advance, store them in the fridge and warm them up in the oven or microwave for just a few minutes before it’s dessert time!

The ice cream is scooped in no time. Drizzle a little more maple syrup over it, and your dessert is ready to be served.

    Mövenpick Vanilla Dream Ice Cream

The perfectly baked pears deserve utterly delicious ice cream!

Drumroll for the Vanilla Dream ice cream from Mövenpick with the finest Bourbon Vanilla from Madagascar. Simply delicious!

Be sure to use an ice cream scoop to form beautiful round scoops of ice cream. It works best if you dip the ice cream scoop briefly into a glass of hot water before you dig it into that pint of ice cream. The heat makes it easy to form the ice cream and prevents it from sticking to the metal.

Make sure to watch the recipe video where you can see how easy this actually is!

    Baked Pears Recipe

The recipe is easy, quick, and simple to follow! You can find the entire recipe with the full ingredient list further below in the recipe card, but I found that this visual guide helps you to make it right away the very first time! I especially recommend it for cooking beginners.

→ It is even easier if you watch the recipe video. So you can see in less than two minutes how to make this simple dessert recipe!

Main ingredients for this winter dessert:

    • Pears → I love to use Abate Fetel for this particular recipe, these are the longish pears with brown skin – make sure to use ripe pears which are about equal in size
    • Maple syrup → Can be replaced by agave syrup or honey
    • Vanilla extract
    • Cinnamon → Omit if you don’t like cinnamon
    • The Finish Line: Mövenpick Vanilla Dream Ice Cream

    How to make it:

    • Mix the maple syrup, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl until evenly combined.

    • Wash and carefully peel the pears, but leave the stem intact. Cut in half and scoop out the seeds using a spoon.
    • Place the pears, cut side facing up, in a baking dish.
    baked pears recipe step 2
    • Drizzle with the maple syrup mixture.
    baked pears recipe step 3
    • Bake for 20-30 minutes until soft and caramelized.

Tip: Small and very ripe pears are good after 20 minutes, larger and less ripe ones need approximately 30 minutes.

    • Shape the vanilla ice cream into balls using an ice cream scoop.

    • Let them cool for a few minutes and serve each two pear halves with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzle with a little more maple syrup if you like.

    Recipe FAQ

Can I prepare the recipe in advance? Bake the pears one or two days in advance and either reheat them in the oven (10 minutes at 395°F/200°C) or in a microwave.

How long does it stay fresh? The bakes pears keep fresh for 4 days. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

What to do with leftovers? You can use the baked pears to make a porridge or overnight oats. As they are already sweetened, you don’t need to use extra sweetener when using them for breakfast!
