Ingredients
- Fresh ginger: Adds warmth and a gentle kick. Ginger is known for its antibacterial properties and natural vitamin C content.
- Fresh turmeric: Gives the tea its vibrant golden color. Turmeric contains curcumin, which is widely known for its anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Black pepper: Just a pinch helps your body absorb turmeric more effectively (don't skip it!).
- Lemon: Adds freshness and extra vitamin C. Use organic, unwaxed lemons if possible.
- Cinnamon stick: Optional, but lovely for extra warmth and depth.
- Maple syrup: A natural sweetener that balances the spice beautifully. You can also use agave, date syrup, or skip sweeteners altogether.
- Water: The base of the tea, allowing all flavors to gently infuse.
See recipe card for quantities.
Tips
- Use fresh roots whenever possible: Fresh ginger and turmeric give the tea a much brighter flavor and stronger aroma than ground spices.
- Slice thinly for more flavor: The thinner you slice the ginger and turmeric, the more flavor they release into the tea.
- Don't skip the black pepper: Even a tiny pinch significantly improves the absorption of turmeric's curcumin.
- Watch out for stains: Turmeric stains very easily. Be careful with clothes, cutting boards, and countertops.
- Adjust to your taste: Like it stronger? Let the tea steep a little longer (without boiling). Prefer it milder? Use fewer slices or strain earlier.
- Sweeten at the end: Always add maple syrup or other sweeteners after straining, so you can adjust the sweetness to your liking.

Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea
email me this recipe 💌
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 1 lemon, in slices
- 2 inch turmeric, in slices
- 1 inch ginger, in slices
- 1 cinnamon stick
- a pinch cracked black pepper, for the bioavailability of the turmeric
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup, agave nectar, or date syrup
Instructions
- Bring a small pot with the water to the boil.
- Add the lemon, turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon stick. Pop on the lid and let it simmer for 5 minutes over low heat.
- Pour the hot tea through a fine-mesh sieve and sweeten with maple syrup.
- Enjoy your lemon ginger turmeric tea while hot!
Notes
- Turmeric: Be careful, turmeric has a very aggressive yellow color, which is very difficult to clean if it comes in contact with your clothes!
- Pepper: The black pepper helps with the bioavailability of the turmeric.
- Sweetness: Adjust the sweetness to your taste.
- Lemon: If you prefer, you can juice the lemon and add it right before serving instead of cooking the lemon slices with the tea. I love to cook it with the tea as the lemon rind (make sure it’s an organic lemon) adds some extra flavor!
- Recipe Variation with ground spices (if you don’t have fresh ingredients at hand):
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

It was good I liked it more especially being a healthy drink. I added a little honey.

Feeling poorly with a cold, this tea helped .Thanks
Glad to hear, Gary! 💕
I don’t usually care for hot teas, but this was very tasty. I only had honey to use as a sweetener, but I didn’t add quite enough. Next time I will add more, but I do plan on trying it with the maple syrup. I’m sure that will be even better.
It’s delicious with honey or maple syrup! 😉 Glad you liked it, Kelley! 🥰

Sorry, I meant 1 tsp of tumeric!
Hi! Im about to make this! I was wondering though, it calls for 4 vups which is 4 servings. Would it be safe to drink the whole batch in one day? I’m used to drinking juice from a whole lemon and 1st of tumeric every day.
Hi Crystal, I do think it’s safe to drink the whole batch in one day – an excellent immune-booster! Enjoy it! 💕
I tried this tea this week and it was really good in terms of taste and also, I felt very energized after I drank it. I will definitely do it again, excellent recipe!
The next tea I will try is the Rose Tea Latte, it looks yummy! I will leave a review after I make it.
If I may suggest, I would love to try some typical Swiss recipes, since you’re Swiss and I always imagined that the food there must be pretty and delicious!
Thank you very much Aline!

Hi Natalia
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I am so happy you like the tea recipe! ❤️
To be honest, traditional Swiss recipes contain a lot of meat and cheese. That’s why I don’t publish them. But if you love bread, you must try out this Zopf Bread! This is a very typical Swiss recipe, and most Swiss eat it for breakfast on the weekend.

Ti literally just finished making my first batch. It is very tasty! I can’t wait to reap the health benefits
