I also love them because they are super quick to prepare in 20 minutes with only 4 ingredients – perfect for a healthy vegan snack or sweet treat without feeling guilty.

Besides being so healthy, these banana oatmeal cookies taste really delicious of banana, nuts, and chocolate. Plus they are crunchy and best when still slightly warm!

I find the variation with nuts and chocolate chips very tasty. If you like, you are welcome to add winter spices. For example, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, or a pinch of ground nutmeg. Raisins or dried cranberries also do well!

In the summer, they pack a punch if you add a handful of blueberries or raspberries – this makes these healthy cookies juicer and adds more vitamins and antioxidants! Vanilla extract is also a great addition.

We always prepare this banana oatmeal cookies recipe when we’re craving something sweet after dinner. It’s a perfect little dessert with the best banana flavor! Plus, you most certainly have those ingredients at home anyway. 🙌

Ingredients

See recipe card for quantities.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies Ingredients
  • Banana → I recommend using ripe bananas, as they are a little sweeter than unripe ones. But it also works with fresh and rather unripe bananas, depending on what you have at home. Banana contains fiber and ensures that the cookie dough sticks together without using eggs.
  • Rolled Oats→ I recommend using rolled oats, but quick oats would work too if that’s what you have at hand.
  • Nuts → Use a mix of nuts or add your favorite nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, walnuts, pecans).
  • Dark Chocolate Chips → Make sure they are vegan!

Good To Know: No refined sugar is used in this recipe, nor is any other sweetener added. Bananas still contain fructose, and chocolate, even dark, contains sugar. Health food stores sell sugar-free chocolate, or you can omit the chocolate altogether – depending on your diet 😉.
