Grilled green asparagus is super healthy, delicious, crunchy, packed with vitamins, low in calories, and welcome at every summer party. It makes an excellent vegetable side dish that is packed with flavor. Just like these grilled cauliflower steaks! 😉

The advantage of grilling asparagus is that it’s one of the quickest preparation and cooking methods. Furthermore, asparagus keep their wonderful crunch through grilling. All in all, a super easy and quick recipe for veggie fans!

    Marinade

My favorite way to marinate asparagus is with a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, mustard, maple syrup, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Do you have a favorite barbecue marinade? Feel free to toss the green asparagus spears with your favorite marinade before grilling them crisp.

To marinate, place the fresh asparagus with all the marinade ingredients in a Ziploc bag, close it, and massage (or shake) gently by hand. Super simple, super clean! Oh, and the Ziploc bag can be taken with you if you are heading to the park or friends for a barbecue – easy to make ahead of time!

Feel free to place the bag with the asparagus in the fridge for up to one day. This way, the asparagus will soak up the marinade even more!

Do you avoid plastic? Toss everything in a deep dish!

Grilled asparagus taste delicious with this homemade chimichurri sauce or drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice. Flexitarian? Add finely grated parmesan cheese once they come off the grill.
